Important Tax Bill Information- Please Read
Washington County is changing how it is handling the distribution of the “School Levy Tax Credit” when it is applied to 2016 tax bills for local taxpayers. This credit shift will have a neutral or no tax impact on your total property tax bill. Because only the net tax is published, it might appear that Hartford Jt #1 is raising taxes, but that is not accurate. The County is reallocating a credit that as a result shows a difference in the “net tax”. The “net tax” published is not an apples to apples comparison and the property tax bill does not clearly identify that the difference in tax is a result of a Washington County shift in how the School Levy Tax Credit is being applied to individual property tax bills.
Hartford Jt #1 has reduced our property tax levy for the past five consecutive years. Please feel free to call the District Office is you have questions about the school portion of your property tax bill.
