The Hartford School District Jt. #1 began using the Scantron Performance Series Assessment in the fall of the 2005-2006 school year. It is a computer-adaptive test that helps us to pinpoint the proficiency level of our students in mathematics, language arts, reading and science. It is different from other standardized tests in that it is taken on-line rather than with paper and pencil; it adjusts difficulty levels automatically to each student’s ability level and reports scores immediately after completion.
We currently use the Scantron Performance Series Assessment as an alternative means of establishing proficiency in reading and mathematics.
