This page is intended to be a source of useful information to parents of disctict students.  In the right column you will find helpful links to information about all of our assessments.  You will also be able to find more specific information about each assessment given in the district.

Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination
(WKCE)

     The WKCE is given to students during November of each school year.  It is the Wisconsin manner of meeting the federal No Child Left Behind Act which requires that students in grades 3-8 and 10 be tested yearly in reading and mathematics.  The exam takes about 5 hours of class time for students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 (not all in one sitting) and about 7 hours of class time for students in grades 4 and 8 (again, not all in one sitting).
     Individual student results are mailed to parents in April and school/district results are released in late May. For Hartford Jt. #1 results, navigate to the WKCE Page and follow links to our district's and the state's data.

Scantron

     The Scantron (Performance Series) student assessment is given as an alternative assessment to determine proficiency in mathematics and reading.  The assessment correlates very closely with the WKCE and provides more detailed information than the WKCE.  It not only provides teachers and parents with individual achievement scores but also links directly to lessons custom designed to meet the needs of individuals based on their assessment results.
