Co-Curricular Overview and Calendar

Co-Curricular Activities

Central Middle School co-curricular activities are meant to be a chance for students to improve skills, learn teamwork and sportsmanship, express themselves and find outlets other than academic ones for their energy and enthusiasm. Each activity has one or more advisors who have training and expertise both in the specific activity and in working with adolescents. While some of the activities involve competition, we do not make winning a priority. Instead, we believe that practicing with enthusiasm, performing and competing against others helps students develop creatively, athletically and intellectually.

Intramural Sports
Intramural sports are offered to students at Central Middle School as a way to provide a meaningful athletic experience to all students. Each program consists of limited instruction followed by game competition between Central students. The games are self-refereed and are meant to give players a chance to have fun and learn the fundamental aspects of their chosen sport.  There is a fee charged for each sport’s season. In order to participate, students must meet Central Middle School behavioral expectations.

Interscholastic Sports
For the 2011-12 school year, all of our interscholastic sports programs will be run by parent/club organizations.  To be a part of that program, please contact Mr. Kieckhefer at Central Middle School.

The purpose of our Interscholastic Sports program is to provide an opportunity for students to develop their athletic ability and learn sportsmanship in a competitive atmosphere. Student athletes are expected to exhibit exemplary behavior, attend all practices and create a positive image for Central Middle School both during the school day and at athletic contests.
